Filing a request to cancel your registration

​A retirement village operator can only file a request to cancel their registration on the Retirement Villages Register if certain terms and conditions have been met.

Filing your request for cancellation

The operator of a retirement village may make a request to us to cancel their registration on the Retirement Villages Register on Form RV4 (Request for cancellation of registration).

Where there's more than 1 operator of a retirement village, the request must be made by all operators.

The operator/s of a retirement village can't request the cancellation of their registration on the Retirement Villages Register unless:

  • all residents of the retirement village have received independent legal advice about the effects of cancellation, and
  • at least 90 per cent of those residents have consented in writing to the cancellation.

The correct cancellation fee must be paid when you submit your application for cancellation of the registration of a retirement village.
